Wow, has it been a year already? The new Miss California USA will be crowned Sunday night, and the 2009 titleholder Tami Farrell plus all the 2010 contestants have already gathered in preparation for the big night.

Prejean started the controversy rolling by speaking out against gay marriage during the Miss USA compeition, and it has been a nonstop ride ever since.

The trio of Oscar winners sat at a secluded table on the outside patio at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles with Penn's date listening to their animated stories.
Penelope, who recently refused to reveal to David Letterman if she is engaged to handsome Bardem, sat with her back to the bar crowd in an attempt not to be recognized. But her low profile ploy was blown by Bardem and Penn who were laughing loudly at each other's jokes. At one point Penelope even had to gently calm handsome Bardem down by holding his arm as he enthusiastically got out of his seat waving his hands.
"Everyone seemed to be having a good time except Penn's date who appeared slightly subdued," our eyewitness said.

Attorney Daniel Meachum was in the US Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta Friday, fighting to keep Snipes out of prison. He was been given a three-year sentence but is out on bond pending his appeal. The Internal Revenue Service claimed that Snipes made $13.8 million for the period in question of 1999 and 2001, and owed $2.7 million in taxes that he refused to pay.

Meachum told RadarOnline.com exclusively: “As far as I am concerned he is as much a victim as the people that Bernie Madoff took money from. Wesley picked the wrong lawyers and accountants to represent him and he paid a heavy price.” Madoff’s victims included married actors Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon.

Meachum’s argument Friday was that Snipes should have been granted a hearing to decide whether his trial should have been in New York and not Florida. The three judge panel listened to the evidence but did not make any immediate ruling in court today allowing Snipes to remain a free. It may be three months before the decision is handed down.
The Feds Were Hoping For A Longer Sentence For Snipes
Meachum added: “We have made a good appeal and believe there was no criminal intent from Wesley Snipes to evade paying his taxes. Contrary to popular belief he is a very sensitive person who is naturally very anxious for this matter to be resolved – he is not cavalier about these proceedings. We respect the charges and the judges but we feel that we presented our arguments well and raised some novel issues that the 11th Circuit Court had not heard before.
“The three judges are very bright men and we will just have to wait and see what their determination will be.”
Prosecutors, though believe that the law is clear when it comes to where trials are to take place and that Snipes attorneys were too late in asking for a change of venue.
“Wesley Snipes received a fair trial and a fair sentence. His numerous appeals do not make that sentence erroneous,” said US Assistant Attorney Patricia Barksdale.

Sherry Johnston, 43, was convicted of a Class A felony, which carried a sentence of five to eight years. Her attorney asked for a shorter jail sentence because she possessed a small quantity of the drug and had no previous drug-related convictions.

If Jon Gosselin is sweating a possible lawsuit from his former fling Kate Major, he’s not showing it.
In fact, Gosselin’s attorney, Mark Heller, told RadarOnline.com exclusively that he thinks the entire case (Major is considering suing the reality dad for breach of contract, fraud and loss of wages) is a joke.

“Kate knows Jon Gosselin is like Obama’s stimulus package,” Heller told RadarOnline.com on Thursday. “Every time she needs money, she cashes in on the few days she knew Jon Gosselin.”
Heller is, of course, referring to the handwritten agreement obtained exclusively by RadarOnline.com and signed by both Jon and Kate 2.0, in which Major agreed to quit her job and go work for Gosselin as his personal assistant.

Heller confirmed that the document is real, however he says it has no legal value.
“It holds as much order as a six-inch pail with a nine-inch hole,” he told RadarOnline.com. “It will not serve for the basis of any litigation. Anybody who would seek to file a lawsuit based on that document would be sanctioned. Her lawyer was very cautious in his language when he said ‘possible’ [breach of contract lawsuit]. Clearly he has no options concerning that matter.”
Kate Major Retains Lawyer To Sue Jon Gosselin
RadarOnline.com spoke to Major’s attorney, Ben Pietra, on Wednesday, who confirmed that the former entertainment magazine reporter had retained his services for a “possible breach of contract lawsuit against Jon Gosselin.”
A well-placed source told RadarOnline.com that Kate and Jon spent a weekend in a hotel where they drew up the contract. Kate had just resigned from her position as an entertainment magazine reporter, and according to the source, “Jon told her he would match the salary she was making at the magazine if she came to work for him as his personal employee.”

Actually it won’t be a referee, but they will be monitored by a court-appointed arbitrator.
RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively that the warring couple will come face-to-face within the next several days to hammer out details of their divorce.

After talking about each other in separate national TV interviews for months, Jon and Kate will now face off behind closed doors and division of money is still a significant issue, sources tell RadarOnline.com exclusively.
Potentially complicating a resolution is the fact that Jon is being sued by TLC for breach of contract. He not only faces large legal bills but also could be on the hook for a huge sum of money if TLC prevails and is awarded damages. One scenario has Jon dragging out the divorce so that the couple’s money is still pooled – with Jon hoping Kate will convince TLC not to proceed against him because it will take money away from her and the kids.

But Kate doesn’t want to drag out the divorce. And if she has her way and the marriage is officially dissolved, the reality TV dad will be on his own if it comes time to pay TLC, and that bill could be astronomically high.

TLC is represented by Williams & Connolly, one of the best law firms in the country. Lead attorney Paul Gaffney has lined up a slew of depositions with people who were close to Jon during the past few months when TLC alleges he breached his contract and went rogue on the network. In addition, TLC is moving ahead with its attempt at a preliminary injunction against Jon and if it is granted Jon will not be able to trade off his “fame” for cash in paid interviews and appearances as he has been doing. He will also be restricted from pursuing other TV projects.

Jon has been in Hawaii for the past several days. One source says that instead of the harsh rhetoric he’s been using against Kate, he’s now ready to try a more conciliatory approach. Sources close to Kate say she wants to move on with her life as quickly as possible.
