WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: 2012 Is No Disaster At Theaters

As expected, the disaster epic 2012 ruled the box office this weekend. The estimated tally is $65 million in ticket sales. A Christmas Carol wasn't even close for second position. The Jim Carrey holiday flick brought in $22.3 million. Third place went to George Clooney's wacky comedy, The Men Who Stare At Goats with $6.2 million. The weekend's real winner was Precious which continues to do spectacular numbers. It came in fourth with $6.1 million while playing at only 114 theaters. By comparison, it brought it just as much as Goats which was on 2453 screens! Michael Jackson's This Is It is still hanging on. It came in fifth with $5.1 million.
The rest of the top 10: The Fourth Kind - $4.7 million; Couples Retreat - $4.3 million; Paranormal Activity - $4.2 million; Law Abiding Citizen - $3.9 million; The Box - $3.2 million.

Jim Carrey's multi-character performance in the animated A Christmas Carol was the winner at the box office this weekend, taking in an estimated $31 million in ticket sales. Michael Jackson's This Is It suffered an almost 40 percent fall-off from last weekend. It took in $14 million for second place. Opening in far fewer theaters, the wacky George Clooney comedy, The Men Who Stare At Goats, brought in a respectable $13.3 million for third place. The Fourth Kind took fourth place with $12.5 million.
Jim Carrey Takes Girlfriend Jenny McCarthy's Son Kayaking

Jim Carrey loves being a dad, and although he and girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have never married, the funnyman treats her son Evan, as if he were his own.
The trio has been vacationing in Hawaii where Jim and Evan, 7, made sand castles, splashed in the surf and went kayaking. Evan, who is autistic, seemed a bit unsure about the whole kayaking thing at first but Jim was so careful and comforting, it made for a great adventure.
RadarOnline.com broke the news earlier this month that Jim, 47, is going to be a grandfather!
Jim's daughter Jane and her fiancé will be first-time parents in December and Jim said he couldn't be more "excited."
"Jim is a natural-born dad," a friend of the actor told RadarOnline.com. "He's always been devoted to Jane and he adores Evan."

Jim Carrey's rocker daughter Jane Carrey is expecting her first baby and her dad is thrilled, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively. "I am very excited," Jim, 47, said. "Jane is going to be a great mom."
Jane, 21, fronts her own rock group, the Jane Carrey Band. The papa-to-be is Jane's long-time boyfriend Alex Santana, who goes by the stage name "Nitro" with his rock band, Blood Money.
"Jane is ecstatic," a source told RadarOnline.com. "She and Alex are now engaged and are thrilled at becoming parents."
Jane's mother is Jim's first wife, Melissa Womer. Jim has been dating Jenny McCarthy for several years.

If you're playing poker, the best you can hope for is that Jim Carrey is across the table. That's the word from his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy, who graces the cover of the May issue of Shape magazine in spectacular style.
"He's got the worst poker face," Jenny says in an exclusive interview in Shape. "He jumps up and down when he has a good hand."
