An escalating war of words between The Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien and actress Kirstie Alley might have simmered down Wednesday, as O'Brien pledged to never joke about the actresses' weight issues again, saying he will insert the name of portly Peru leader Alan Garcia Perez in place of he Cheers alum.

Kirstie Alley Tweeted she's been "dying" to do her upcoming A&E reality TV show on Tuesday.
"I've been dying to flat out do my program, but really wanted to chronicle it and share that with you," she Tweeted. "We'll prove [it] can be fun & funny."

Kirstie Alley is coming back to TV but instead of the scripted comedies that made her famous, this time she'll be starring in her own reality show, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

The former Cheers star has made more headlines for her weight battle than her acting talent in recent years, but now she's going to feature her weight-loss struggles on the new show, which will air on the A&E network, RadarOnline.com confirmed.

Hollywood is in mourning today, after many an actor's friend and colleague Patrick Swayze lost a long battle with cancer on Monday.

We thought Kirstie Alley was kidding when she tweeted that she would be replacing Paula Abdul next season on American Idol but it looks like the Fat Actress may have her way!

When asked about his client’s twittering, Alley’s rep told RadarOnline.com exclusively, “She is ecstatic at the prospect.”
We asked him exactly what that meant, to which he repeated, “She is ecstatic at the prospect.”
So mysterious! But one thing is for sure-- if Alley is on board, she will be joining some A-list guest judges.
On Thursday, Fox Broadcasting Entertainment Chairman, Peter Rice, announced that Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry were confirmed to guest judge next season’s audition process.
And so the publicity train continues! Almost makes you miss Paula, doesn’t it? Just a little bit?

From the I-Want-Publicity Department we bring you Kirsitie Alley and her claim, via Twitter, that she's replacing Paula Abdul on American Idol. Her Tweet:
I WANTED TO ANNOUNCE FIRST ON TWITTER...that I AM REPLACING PAULA ABDUL ON IDOL!!!!!!!!! THe network will kill me but THERE IT IS FOLKS!!
DEAD SERIOUS! I AM REPLACING PAULA ON IDOL..CAN'T WAIT TO F SIMON UP...BEEN WORKING ON IT FOR MONTHS!
Actually, we kinda think it's a good idea. She's got great comedic timing and a history of successfully replacing actresses on hit shows, which she acknowledged by Tweeting:
FIRST SHELLY LONG, NOW PAULA ABDUL...AM I ALWAYS SLOPPY SECONDS
Actually, when last heard from (before the Tweet) Kirstie was working on her own diet plan after her nationally publicized weight loss via Jenny Craig and subsequent tabloid-publicized gaining it all back.
Kirstie and Simon. Hmm...it could be fun. And somewhere in Hollywood Paula's new agent is explaining to anyone who will listen how his negotiating-through-the-media strategy was actually a really, really good idea.

Chatting with Oprah on Thursday, Kirstie Alley opened up about her weight gain and in our favorite moment from the show, shared a particularly embarrassing moment she had at the airport. Looking worse for the wear after a flight from Paris, the actress tried to flee from photographers and took cover in the elevator only to find that it was unfortunately made of glass!
